Coronavirus Updates

The following update on Coronavirus has been provided by the Local Authority.

Dear Parent/Carer

As you will likely be aware, a confirmed case of Coronavirus has occurred in Swansea, the person concerned is receiving care and self-isolated immediately on becoming symptomatic.

I would like to reassure you the case is not in relation to a pupil in any school in Swansea or any organised school trips.

Our school is receiving regular updates from Swansea Council who are working in partnership with their colleagues in Health. They have assured us that the risk remains low and no additional measures need to be taken above the advice already provided by Public Health Wales.

If you need any further information please go to www.phw.nhs.wales/coronavirus. We will update you all as needed, but please be assured that there is no need for concern.

Coronavirus

Please check our website for the latest update. We will let you know immediately if we are advised to close school and will inform you of how you can keep your children learning through our website!

Social Media and Home-School Communication

The Governing Body would like to advise you that staff have been asked not to be members of parent groups on social media eg Facebook and Whatsapp. They have also been asked not to respond to any messages about pupils or about school matters by text or other online platforms. We hope you will understand that we need to maintain strict professional boundaries.

If you need to contact staff please do so through DoJo or via your child’s Planner in Y5/6. Better still, give us a call or see your child’s teacher at the beginning or end of the school day!

Parents Evening

Please make every effort to make an appointment for next week’s parents meetings. I will be available to speak to you throughout the evenings and to make you a cup of tea if you have a wait between appointments. Call in to the hall if you wish to discuss any school matters or issues relating to your child.

Art Exhibition

Art Exhibition

The Art Exhibition started with a flurry of visitors this afternoon, looking at the wide range of artwork on offer. Every class in the school has provided and displayed their recent artwork, which they are all extremely proud of.

The artwork displayed shows a variety of techniques and styles, which the children have used to celebrate religions from around the world. It is definitely worth a visit this week if you have not already attended. Don’t just take our word for it!

Greg Rees Shield

It has been a busy day at the first Greg Rees Shield and lots of fun has been had by all schools involved. Netball, football and rugby teams attended from seven schools: Gowerton Primary School, Gwyrosydd Primary School, Penyrheol Primary School, Pontybrenin Primary School, Sketty Primary School, St. Thomas Community Primary School and ourselves.

The tournament was kindly supported by the South Wales Police with their donation of the Greg Rees Shield and their presence throughout the day was greatly appreciated. Further thanks must also go to Swansea City Community Trust for providing football referees, Tom Sloane for the rugby, Gower College for their students supporting the football and rugby, and to all staff that supported the event with such positivity and enthusiasm.

The Greg Rees Shield was contested using a points based system: 3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw and 1 point for a loss. The winning school today was Gwyrosydd Primary School. A big congratulations to them and all that took part in the tournament.
