Newsletter 07.1.22
Dear Parent / carer
Croeso nol!
Thank you all for supporting us in school by following the guidelines in our updated risk assessment by wearing facial coverings on school grounds, following the one-way system in school and dropping off your children between 8.40am and 8.55am each morning. We are currently in the green category regarding our staffing levels and have less than 10% of staff absent. Therefore, we can operate fully to ensure your child can continue to learn alongside their friends in school. The challenge is to maintain these staffing levels so we can remain open for as long as possible. By following the rules and maintaining social distancing when on school grounds will certainly help us achieve this and stop the spread.
Your child should be able to access HWB classes via a link emailed to you by your child’s class teacher. This is where you will find school work if we do need to move to remote learning. Please familiarise yourself with the webpage so you know where your child can access the work needed if we need to close a class. If you need more information, please contact your child’s class teacher.
Drumming sessions
As part of the Winter of Wellbeing Project a local drumming group, One Heart Drummers, has developed some sessions called “Rhythm and Play”, which will be held at St Catherine’s Church Hall in Gorseinon every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 6-7.30pm. These sessions will include, a mixture of African drumming, Samba, Junk and drum making along with rhythm games, fun and plenty of movement to get everyone involved. They want to make these sessions available to as many young people and their families as possible and have asked to share their website with you www.oneheartdrummers.org
Nasal Vaccine
For those children who missed the nasal vaccine in December, the school nurse will be providing a catch-up session on Tuesday 11th January.
Busy Bee Buzz Club (Named by the Year 4 children)
As you are aware we no longer have a registered after-school childcare facility (Kids Club). After considerable thought and discussion with our governors we have decided to trial a teaching assistant-led club to help support our families who need to work.
From Monday 17th January we will operate the Busy Bee Buzz club from the hall from 3 pm– 4.45 pm Monday-Thursday. The fun, play-based sessions will be led by two teaching assistants who are familiar with the children. There will be a charge of £5 per session, per child and this is payable in advance. A booking link will be e-mailed to you via schoop on a Monday and will need to be completed by Thursday at 3pm in readiness for the following week.
Unfortunately, you will not be able to telephone and book for the same day, as we will need to know how many staff we will require for each session. If you would like more information, please contact me for a registration pack from Monday 10th January. Booking will be open from Monday to Thursday for the week commencing 17th January. We will trial these sessions until Friday 8th April.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Kind regards
Mrs Davies
